How we operate

SETTING THE STANDARDS FOR PET CREMATION IN IRELAND, A FULLY TRANSPARENT PROCESS WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND YOUR PETS’ COMFORT AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING WE DO

Arrival at our crematorium

Upon arrival, we will once again contact you. Your pet will then be groomed and laid in repose in our cold room which has been specially adapted to ensure your pet lays peacefully while awaiting cremation. If you have opted for our priority individual cremation service, your pet will be groomed and laid comfortably in our Goodbye Room where you can have time to pay respects to your beloved friend. At this stage we will complete further documentation that will accompany your pet throughout the process.

Individual cremation

We will always carry out individual and dignified pet cremations and It does not matter if a gerbil or a wolfhound is entrusted to us. Only one pet at a time will ever be cremated with Resting Pets. Your pet will be carefully moved to the cremation chamber using a specially designed stretcher that can be suited to size and lined with comfortable bedding. We will then respectfully lift your pet within the chamber using the bedding and remove it by folding carefully from underneath. Before all of this we will take a small amount of fur clippings and a clay mould of your pets’ paws.

Removal of remains from chambers

Upon completion of the individual cremation, we then carefully remove the remains. We simply use a small heat resistant brush with non-stick bristles that ensures all remains are taken from the chamber.

Cremulation

Once cooled we then use what is known as a cremulator to further reduce the remains to a fine powder. Our cremulation machine is thoroughly cleaned after each use to guarantee there will be no mixing of remains. Once this process is complete the fine powder is transferred to a temporary plastic container. The container is labelled with your pets’ name and service details before being prepared for return to you.

Preparation

Only one set of ashes will ever enter our preparation room at a time which is located separately to the rest of our facility. Our preparation room is a designated clean area and further guarantees no mixing of remains. Ashes are placed into either a scatter tube or wooden casket, whichever was chosen. We then assemble a remembrance pack which includes ashes, certificate of authenticity and fur clippings.

Return

The remembrance box is then returned directly to you or to your vet for collection, whichever was agreed upon. You are also very welcome to come and collect your remembrance box directly from us.

Transparency

What sets us apart from other crematoria is that we offer you as much or as little access to the individual pet cremation process as you wish. We do this by recording the entire process and providing you with as much evidence as you need to have total peace of mind that:

  1. Your pet was treated with dignity and respect while in our care
  2. Your pet was individually cremated
  3. You have had your pets’ ashes alone returned to you

Our aim is to set industry standards in Ireland and provide every pet with the peaceful and dignified send-off they deserve.
